The role of the Hunter International
Sports Centre Trust is to administer the Crown land
lease which encompasses the Sports Centre on behalf
of the NSW Government and the Department of Sport and Recreation.
The Trust's charter is to manage the
sports complex to ensure that the land provides to the
community, facilities which can be used for sporting
activities, leisure and entertainment.
The Trust's objectives are to:
- Provide sporting facilities
of an international standard for the Hunter Region.
- Encourage the maximum use of
the facilities by sporting bodies and leisure providers
in the Hunter Region.
- Coordinate and manage works
for the improvement, development and maintenance of
the lands.
- Manage the complex in a commercial
manner.
The Trust is appointed by the NSW
Government. The appointments are for five years.
The Trust has a close affiliation
with Newcastle City Council and the Department of Sport and Recreation, and is responsible to the Minister for Tourism and Sport and Recreation, the Hon Sandra Nori,
MP.
The Trust also has strong links to
the Premier's Department through the appointment to
the Trust of Ben Chard, Regional Coordinator - NSW Premier's
Department.
