In January 2003, the Hunter ISC Trust announced the call for proposals for the private sector lease and development of a 3.3 hectare parcel of land adjacent to EnergyAustralia Stadium known as the Sports Facility Zone.

The land is located in the north-west corner of the Hunter ISC precinct and currently occupied by a mini golf course and go cart track.

The redevelopment will create a sports and entertainment precinct that has very few parallels in the State or indeed Australia, and has been earmarked by the Trust to become the hub of sports administration, education and promotion in the Hunter.

Honeysuckle Development Corporation, which is managing the process on behalf of the Hunter ISC Trust, received a number of proposals for the development of the site. The Call for Proposals closed at 3pm on Friday, 28 March.

The Trust is expected to announce the successful tenderer and details of the proposed development later this year.
